Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Neuro-Surgical Department Inquiry.

Bernard Allen

Question:

297 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he plans to order a public sworn inquiry into allegations made by two doctors at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9, regarding some aspects of the performance of the neuro-surgical department.

I understand that Beaumont Hospital Board have received certain complaints from two of their medical staff concerning neuro-surgical interventions at the hospital.

As the board of the hospital have referred these matters to the Medical Council, which is the statutory regulatory authority for the medical profession, I consider that it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.
