Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Maynooth (County Kildare) Castle.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

65 Mr. Durkan asked the Taoiseach if the National Heritage Council will give financial and/or technical assistance towards the restoration of the Geraldine Castle, Maynooth, County Kildare; if the council has yet received proposals in this regard; the extent to which financial assistance will be made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that no application has been received by the National Heritage Council relating to the restoration of the Geraldine Castle, Maynooth, County Kildare.

Applications to the National Heritage Council are considered on their merits by the council. The council has complete independence in deciding on the priorities for grant assistance and the amount, if any, in each case.
