Vol. 397 No. 10

Written Answers. - Dublin District Court Accommodation.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

74 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider locating a new District Court in the proposed Blanchardstown Town Centre, Dublin 15; if so, if he has engaged in discussions with the developers with a view to including suitable premises for the District Court; if not, if he will enter into such discussions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Since the extension of the Dublin Metropolitan District in 1982 District Court business originating in the Blanchardstown area and formerly dealt with at Kilmainham District Court, has been catered for quite satisfactorily at the specialist centre city courts — the Custody, Civil, Summary, Traffic, Family Law and Juvenile Courts. I am not satisfied that any changes in those arrangements would be justified having regard, in particular, to the cost involved, and accordingly the question of seeking District Court accommodation in the Blanchardstown area does not arise.
