Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - Amalgamation of Schools.

Dick Spring

Question:

150 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed amalgamation of the secondary schools at Mercy Convent, Balloonagh and Mercy Court, Moyderwell, Tralee, County Kerry.

In 1989 the Mercy Order agreed to amalgamate its two post-primary schools in Tralee, at Balloonagh and Moyderwell, into a single post-primary school on the Balloonagh site. In order to implement this amalgamation my Department propose to grant aid a building project at Balloonagh to cater for about 800 pupils.

The progress of the project through the stages of architectural planning is, of course, dependent on the level of financial resources available to my Department.
