Vol. 398 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Proceedings Against Army Personnel.

Liam Kavanagh

Question:

26 Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for Defence the number of prosecutions in the civil or criminal courts taken against Army personnel in each of the last three years; the offences and the number of convictions involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available. In that regard there is no obligation on a member of the Permanent Defence Force to inform his/her commanding officer that he/she is to appear before a civil court.
