Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Child Abuse Counselling.

Bernard Allen

Question:

112 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the steps he has taken to ensure that male gardaí are properly trained to deal with child abuse cases.

The Garda role in such cases relates primarily to the investigation of alleged offences. The Garda authorities have informed me that all gardaí receive appropriate training in this area. They inform me also that this training, as indeed is the case with all Garda training, is kept under review to ensure that it continues to meet current requirements.
