Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Waste Recycling Facilities.

Madeleine Taylor-Quinn

Question:

176 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment if he proposes to provide facilities in each local authority area for bottle banks and paper recycling facilities.

Local authorities have been asked to prepare recycling schemes for their areas by the end of June, identifying recycling possibilities and setting out how they will facilitate and promote such activity. Grant assistance amount to £500,000 is available in 1990 for recycling projects, including the provision of bottle banks and other such facilities, whether by local authorities or by other persons. I hope to be able to make grant allocations within the next few weeks.
