Written Answers. - Departmental Vacancies.

Question:

45 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of established positions of (a) cleaner, (b) messenger and (c) porter which exist in his Department; the number of vacancies which have remained unfilled because of the embargo; the present number of vacancies; the number which are capable of being filled; the number which have been filled since 1 January 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are 21 messengers and 14 cleaners currently serving in my Department. Two messengers are serving in an established capacity. No cleaner is serving in an established capacity.

There are at present no vacancies in my Department in either of the above-mentioned grades. No vacancy in either grade has been filled since 1 January 1990.

No post of porter exists in the Department.
