Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - New Premises for Blindcraft Workers.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

137 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health the arrangements which are being made for the transfer of Irish Blindcraft from Rathmines to Inchicore; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this move will involve considerable hardship for some Blindcraft workers due to extra travel.

I have approved of the purchase by the Board for the Employment of the Blind of new premises in Inchicore. These new premises will provide much improved working conditions for the Blindcraft workers.

The board has kept the National League for the Blind which represents the blind workers fully informed of the proposed transfer and arranged for the workers to visit the new premises. The league has recently informed me that following a ballot, its members have voted in favour of the proposed transfer.
