26 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Energy if he will outline the criteria he proposes to apply in the future to the granting of mineral exploration licences, particularly in so far as the environment is concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not propose to change the criteria for the granting of prospecting licences. I have stated previously in the House that I am satisfied that the existing procedures followed by my Department in issuing prospecting licences take adequate account of environmental concerns.
