Paul McGrath

Question:

91 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Defence if the Gleeson report on pay and conditions in the Army is completed; if not, when it is expected to be completed; when it will be published; if the findings and recommendations will be implemented immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Question:

92 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Defence when the findings of the Gleeson Commission on Army pay and conditions will be given to the newly elected Army Representative Association for consideration.

Question:

93 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence if any recommendations from the Gleeson Commission in respect of Army pay and conditions are likely to be implemented before the end of this year; if he will outline the recommendations intended for implementation within this period; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

94 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence the likely cost of the recommendations of the Gleeson Commission, if implemented in the current year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

95 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence when he will implement all or part of the recommendations of the Gleeson report on Army pay and conditions; if he intends to implement same immediately or later in the current year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 91-95, inclusive, together.

The review by the Commission on Remuneration and Conditions of Service in the Defence Forces, which is an entirely independent body, is still proceeding.When the commission submit their report the Government will consider the recommendations and the question of publication.

Any additional funding which may be required in the current year arising out of the commission's recommendations will be provided.
