Vol. 401 No. 1

Written Answers. - Capital Airline Service.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

125 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he will clarify the position regarding Capital Airline; and if they are to continue flying into and out of Ireland.

Capital Airlines is a UK licensed airline authorised by the UK authorities under the terms of the Irel-and-UK Air Services Agreement to operate scheduled services on three routes between the UK and Ireland, viz Luton-Dublin, Leeds/Bradford-Dublin and Belfast-Dublin. I understand from the UK authorities that a receiver was appointed last week to the airline's parent company, Brown Group International, and that the airline have suspended their operations.

As the matter is in the hands of the receiver, it is not clear at this stage whether the airline will resume operations.
