Vol. 401 No. 2

Written Answers. - Student Steamlining for Industry.

Donal Carey

Question:

59 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has satisfied himself that there is enough liasion between SFADCo, University of Limerick and the Department of Education so that students are being streamlined into areas where new industry will be set up.

Decisions in relation to the courses offered at the University of Limerick are a matter, in the first instance, for the governing body of the university in consultation with the higher education authority and the Department of Education.

I am satisfied however that there is extremely close liaison between SFADCo and the university at a number of levels which ensures that the university's syllabus review programme takes account of areas of developing technology and the changing needs of industry generally.
