Vol. 401 No. 2

Written Answers. - Absconders from Special School.

Tony Gregory

Question:

74 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education, in view of her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 47 of 28 June 1990, if she will outline whether the two persons concerned absconded from St. Joseph's, Clonmel, County Tipperary and are still at large; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that one of the persons referred to in the Deputy's series of recent questions on this subject was lately apprehended by An Garda Síochána and returned to the care of St. Joseph's special school, Ferryhouse, Clonmel. Court proceedings have commenced in the case but have not yet been concluded. The other person referred to in the reply which I gave on 28/6/90 to the Deputy's question is still at large. Both persons had absconded from St. Joseph's.
