Vol. 402 No. 3

Written Answers. - Malahide (Dublin) National School.

Nora Owen

Question:

137 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education the proposals she has to alleviate over-crowding in classrooms in St. Oliver Plunkett's national school, Grove Road, Malahide, County Dublin; and when she proposes to implement these improvements.

My Department has not received any representations from the authorities of St. Oliver Plunkett national school, Grove Road, Malahide, County Dublin concerning overcrowding in the school. There are 25 teachers at the school including a walking principal and a remedial teacher. The school which was erected in 1974 and extended in 1985 has accommodation in 24 classrooms, a general purposes room, a staffroom, a principal's room and utility room.

If the school authorities wish to effect any necessary improvement in the situation my Department will fully consider the matter on receipt of an application.
