Vol. 402 No. 3

Written Answers. - Co-Disposal Dumps.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

114 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment the number of co-disposal dumps in operation in the State; the location of such dumps; and the amount, if any, of grant aid that was paid for the setting up of such facilities.

Co-disposal dumps, in the sense of landfill facilities catering for both domestic and industrial wastes, are operated privately and by local authorities in many areas of the country. Details may be obtained in the National Database on Waste and the Addendum on Tipsite Statistics, published by An Foras Forbartha, which are available in the Oireachtas Library.

Direct grant aid for the provision of a co-disposal site has been paid to Cork Corporation in the amount of £325,000 to date, in respect of a facility at Kinsale Road.
