Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Leixlip (Kildare) Policing Facilities.

Patrick McCartan

Question:

127 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Justice the proposals he has to upgrade and improve the policing facilities at Leixlip, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As indicated by the Minister for Finance in reply to Question No. 90 on 31 October 1990, negotiations are being completed in respect of premises to house a new Garda sub-station in Leixlip. In anticipation of the opening of this sub-station the Garda authorities have assigned two gardaí from Lucan station to community policing duties in the Leixlip area. These members work full-time in Leixlip and are supported by mobile patrols carried out by uniformed and plain clothes units operating from Lucan station which has overall responsibility for the policing of the Leixlip area.
