Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda Courthouse.

Michael Bell

Question:

153 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the conditions which exist at the Drogheda Courthouse, County Louth; the steps he intends to take to rectify the position; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The building in question is one of a number of courthouses throughout the country which require renovation. New arrangements in relation to this kind of work are due to come into effect shortly, following the Government decision that financial responsibility for the provision and maintenance of courthouses outside Dublin is to be transferred from local authorities to the Exchequer. Priorities have yet to be established between the different courthouses which require attention and it is not possible at this stage to indicate the priority that can be given to the Drogheda Courthouse works.
