Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Leitrim Canal Survey.

John Ellis

Question:

97 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Finance the present position of the survey of the Lough Allen Canal at Drumshanbo, County Leitrim; and when this survey will be made available.

A preliminary survey of the Lough Allen Canal has been undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works. A hydrographic survey of the lake itself, commissioned some time ago, is now in hands. This is required to enable the design and cost estimate of a scheme for the extension of the navigation into Lough Allen to be finalised. Completion of the hydrographic survey is weather dependent and it is not possible to state exactly when it will be completed. However, it is hoped to be available shortly.
