Michael Lowry

Question:

50 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when he will issue payment of a depopulation grant to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if it will be paid in the current year.

The depopulation grant due to the person named has been paid.

51 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the refusal of a suckler cow grant to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; if the application will now be accepted; and if so, when payment will be made.

The suckler cow premium scheme application of the person named was refused originally because it was not received on time.

Because I recently extended the closing date for receipt of such applications to 3 August 1990, however, it has now been accepted and will be processed as quickly as possible.

52 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of beef subsidy and suckler grants will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if payment will be made in the current year.

Payments to this applicant under the 1990 headage, suckler cow and special beef premium schemes cannot be processed further until he meets the Department's request for a fully completed application form and for certain cattle identity cards. Until these requirements are met it is not possible to say when payments will issue.

53 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when final payment of a sheep headage subsidy will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if payment will be made in the current year.

The third and final instalment of the 1990 ewe premium will not be fixed by the EC until March next and payments will be made as soon as possible after that.

54 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a farm modernisation grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if payment will issue in the current year.

A grant in respect of farm buildings was paid on 4 October 1990.

Payment of a grant in respect of land improvement cannot be considered until the local office of the farm development service has been notified that the work has been completed to satisfaction.

55 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment for a grant in respect of a slatted house and tank will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if payment will be made in the current year.

It is expected that the grant will be paid this year.

56 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who is qualified under the farm modernisation scheme; and if payment will be made in the current year.

A grant in respect of a farm roadway was paid on 4 October 1990.

Payment of a grant in respect of an earlier approval cannot be considered until the local office of the farm development service has been notified that the work has been completed to satisfaction.

57 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a grant in respect of reactor animals will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if payment will be made in the current year.

Reactor grants due to the person named will be paid as soon as possible but it is unlikely that they will be paid in the current year.

58 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who is a qualified applicant under the farm modernisation scheme; and if payment will be made in the current year.

It is hoped to have this grant paid within the next few weeks.

59 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a ewe subsidy payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if payment will be made in the current year.

60 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a small cereal grant payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; if he will expedite same; and the reason for the delay in payment.

61 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when outstanding payments will be made to farmers who claimed compensation for storm damage last winter; in particular, when payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will outline the level of payment.

Over 90 per cent of the claims made under the flood damage relief scheme 1990 have been processed and decisions given.

A decision in the case of the person named will be advised shortly.

Question:

62 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a water pollution grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; the date notice of completion of works was received; and the date final inspection was carried out.

It is hoped to have the grant in this case paid within the next few weeks.

While notice of completion of the works was received on 29 May 1990 the necessary documentation to enable an inspection to be made was not furnished until 5 September 1990. The inspection was carried out on 17 October 1990.
