Question:

133 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the grants from the IDA, FEOGA or other sources which have been allocated and the grants so far paid to a meat factory (details supplied) in County Leitrim; the level of employment which will be given there; when it is intended to open the factory; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 131 and 133 together.

Total IDA grant aid approved for the project was £1.25 million of which £0.271 million, was paid to the end of the 1989. Total FEOGA aid allocated to the project was £2.289 million. FEOGA grant aid is normally paid directly by the Commission to the beneficiaries and it would be a breach of commercial confidentiality to disclose information on the position of any individual company vis-à-vis the Commission. The employment projections for the plant provided for 100 jobs in the first year of production. The question of a start-up date for the plant is currently under discussion between the IDA and the promoters.
