Question:

216 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health the number of social workers for the blind currently employed in each health board area; if he has satisfied himself with the current provision in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The following is a summary of the number of social workers employed in each health board area to work directly with the blind:

Eastern Health Board

South Eastern Health Board

* One post is shared between the two health boards concerned.
In addition other social workers would also provide a social work service to blind people as and when required.
