Vol. 403 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Improvement Scheme Grants.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

71 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the amount of money received by Waterford County Council for the local improvement scheme grants in 1990 is small by comparison with other counties; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Between 1984 and 1988, the local improvements scheme was confined to counties qualifying for EC aid under the Western Package. Since then, I extended the scope of the scheme to all other counties. In 1990, a grant of £50,000 was allocated to each of 12 county councils, including Waterford County Council.
