Vol. 403 No. 5

Written Answers. - Appointment of Cardiologist.

Michael Noonan

Question:

77 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Health the reason he has not made arrangements for the appointment of a cardiologist to the Mid-Western Health Board to service the Limerick city and county area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The appointment of consultants is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board in the first instance. The board requested Comhairle na nOspidéal to carry out a review of consultant staffing in hospitals in the Mid-Western Health Board area. The question of appointing a consultant cardiologist to the Mid-Western Health Board will be examined in the light of the recommendations of the Comhairle na nOspidéal review which has not yet been completed.
