Question:

68 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment whether the proposed local elections in June 1991 will be on the basis of existing boundaries; and, if not, if he will outline who will be responsible for revising the boundaries.

As the House is aware, the whole question of local government re-organisation is under consideration. Apart from any proposals which may emerge as a consequence of this review, I do not at present envisage a revision of local electoral areas.
