Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - Helvic Harbour (Waterford) Development.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

105 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine if his Department has allocated money for the development of Helvic Harbour, County Waterford; and, if so, if it is proposed to develop the short side of the harbour, near the co-operative building for the purpose of landing fish catches, as suggested by the local fishermen.

The provision of additional berthage at Helvic Harbour, on a site adjacent to the co-op building, is proposed in my Department's fishery harbour development programme. My Department have recently written to maritime local authorities, including Waterford County Council, concerning the programme. The local fishermen will be consulted before the details of the development are finalised.
