Written Answers. - Farm Development Schemes Funding.

Question:

113 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the lack of funding to farming development offices for inspections; and the plans he has to have the situation rectified to ensure speedy and immediate inspections for grant aid in the future.

The funds made available each year to service the farm development schemes are considered adequate to provide an efficient service.

There is no record of an application from the person mentioned under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers.

117 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the denial of headage payments to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named is not the registered herdowner. The registered herdowner is now deceased and his representations have been requested to forward proof of ownership. When this is received the applications under the 1989 and 1990 cattle and equines headage and suckler cow schemes will be processed further.

118 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a grant for a slatted house to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

There has been some delay in processing under the farm improvement schemes in recent months due to the number of claims received. Notification of the completion of the work in the case referred to by the Deputy was received in October. The necessary inspection has been carried out and payment will be made as soon as possible.

120 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange payment of a full rate farm modernisation grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as all works have now been completed.

The grant as paid is the maximum available under the terms and conditions of the farm improvement programme as approved by the EC.

121 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange payment of a grant for TB reactors to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who needs payment urgently.

The reactor grant due to the person named has been paid.

122 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange early payment of a subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, which is due for some time.

Payments to this applicant under the 1990 beef cow and equines headage and special beef premium schemes are being processed and will issue shortly.

123 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when compensation for reactor animals will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; if payment will be made in the current year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

When confirmation is received that cleansing and disinfection of the holding has been carried out, reactor grants due to the person named will be processed for payment.
