Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Treatment.

Nuala Fennell

Question:

180 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 16 will get treatment for orthodontic problems.

It is not usually possible to make a full assessment of an orthodontic problem until the permanent dentition is fully formed at about 12 years of age. The person referred to is nine years old and receives routine dental treatment from the Eastern Health Board. She will be referred for more complex orthodontic treatment if deemed necessary on the basis of an assessment at age 11 or 12.
