Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kerry School Transport.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

188 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Education if she will review the decision of County Kerry Vocational Education Committee to terminate free transport which has been available to a family (details supplied) in County Kerry for the past five years.

The students in question had been deemed eligible for transport under the terms of the post-primary transport scheme and were in receipt of transport to Killorglin post-primary centre. However, a routine check of eligibility established that they were in fact ineligible as they lived less than three miles from that centre.

In the circumstances, the most that may be offered to them is concessionary farepaying transport provided spare accommodation is available. They have been advised to apply for this concession for the term commencing January 1991.
