Vol. 403 No. 8

Written Answers. - Corporation Tax Yield.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

43 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Finance the amount of tax paid by companies eligible to qualify for the 10 per cent corporation tax rate for the tax year 1989-90; the estimated tax take in the 1990-91 tax year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that statistics are not available as to the amount of corporation tax paid by sector or under different tax rates.

However, from the available data it is tentatively estimated that the corporation tax yield from companies which qualify for the ten per cent rate was of the order of £45 million in the calendar year 1989.

It is not yet possible to provide a meaningful corresponding estimate for the calendar year 1990.
