Mr. J. O'Keeffe
asked the
Minister for Finance
the total receipts or anticipated receipts for 1990 from the EC Structural Funds; and the breakdown of allocations between the different regions in the State.
I propose to take Question Nos. 42 and 97 together.
Our latest revised estimate of total receipts from the EC Structural Funds for 1990 amounts to £523.63 million, of which £410.247 million has already been received.
A breakdown of total structural spending on a subregional basis is being sent to each of the subregional review committees set up to monitor the Community Support Framework at subregional level. The breakdown gives details of actual expenditure undertaken in each of the subregions in 1989, an estimate of the likely outturn in 1990 and a three-year combined forecast for the years 1991-1993. The breakdown shows by main programme area, EC aid commitments, the structural spending associated with that aid and, in addition, the extra investment in structural spending which is funded entirely from domestic resources. This breakdown will be updated regularly for the various subregional review committees.
I am arranging to have copies of the subregional breakdown of expenditure for each subregion placed in the Dáil Library for the information of Members of the Oireachtas.
Claims for payments of EC moneys are made by three central Government Departments, namely the Departments of Finance, Labour and Agriculture and Food, and are co-ordinated nationally on a sectoral basis. A regional breakdown is not available in respect of these receipts.
I propose to circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement showing a sectoral breakdown of receipts from the EC by way of the Structural Fund.
