Vol. 403 No. 9

Written Answers. - Consumer Protection Legislation.

Bernard Allen

Question:

78 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the implications for the Irish health services of the new consumer protection legislation adopted recently in Brussels by the EC Commission.

I am aware that the Commission of the European Communities has adopted a draft Directive on increasing consumer protection in the area of the provision of services. It will now be sent for consideration to the Council of Ministers. The extent to which the provisions of this Directive will apply to health services is being examined by my Department.
