Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - Handicapped Children School Grants.

Austin Deasy

Question:

237 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if she intends to restore capital grants for schools catering for handicapped children in 1991; and if she will outline the capital grants for such schools in each of the last four years.

Capital grants for schools which cater for handicapped children have not been withdrawn. Any application for such grants from schools authorities are considered by my Department in the normal way having regard to the usual rules in these matters and the availability of capital.

The detailed information sought by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. Its compilation would necessitate an inordinate amount of official time and this would not be warranted having regard to the large volume of more urgent work on hands.
