Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Import of Grass Seeds.

James Leonard

Question:

178 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the tonnage and value of grass seeds imported in the latest year for which figures are available; and the percentage this represents of our national requirements.

During the period 1 July 1989 to 30 June 1990, imports of grass seed amounted to 5,360 tonnes valued at about £5 million. This represents about 90 per cent of our national seasonal requirements.
