Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grants to Sporting Organisations.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

383 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the reason an organisation (details supplied) has never received grant assistance under the scheme of grant aid for sporting organisations.

Under the grant-in-aid scheme for sport, grants are allocated to recognised national governing bodies of sport. The organisation in question is not regarded as a sporting organisation. Water safety and life-saving programmes come within the ambit of the National Safety Council which is funded by the Department of the Environment.
