Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kildare Aqueduct Work.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

141 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will facilitate and fund the lowering of the aqueduct at Mylerstown/ Robertstown, County Kildare in order to facilitate drainage of lands in the areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Lowering of the aqueduct which carries the Grand Canal over the Mylerstown supply at Robertstown, County Kildare, would not improve land drainage in the area. There are other measures which might be taken to solve the problem and the Office of Public Works are prepared to provide advice on these to the landowners concerned if they so wish.

The Office of Public Works are not the drainage authority for the area and consequently are not in a position to fund any remedial work required.
