Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cork ENT Waiting List.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

193 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health the number of adults and children on the ear, nose and throat waiting list at South Infirmary in Cork; the plans he has to reduce the waiting list; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are 288 adults and 97 children on the waiting list for ear, nose and throat treatment at the South Infirmary-Victoria Hospital, Cork. The waiting list has decreased by about 317 or over 45 per cent since January of last year. A second full time consultant ENT surgeon will be taking up duty at the hospital next month and I am confident that the service will continue to improve.
