Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - District Nurse Appointment.

Paul McGrath

Question:

192 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health the reason there is no permanent district nurse in the Delvin dispensary area of County Westmeath.

In the further development of community care services the Midland Health Board has taken an initiative in appointing a liaison nurse to improve arrangements in respect of patients discharged from hospital. A permanent public health nurse has been appointed to this new post. Pending experience of the situation the vacancy in the Delvin area is being filled on a temporary rather than permanent basis. These arrangements will be reviewed by the board.
