Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - Shannon (Clare) Health Centre.

Michael Ferris

Question:

195 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health if his Department have received proposals from the Mid-Western Health Board to provide a new health centre in Shannon, County Clare; and if he will make a capital provision to allow building to start in 1991.

My Department recently gave approval to the Mid-Western Health Board for the acceptance of tenders for the construction of a new health centre in Shannon, County Clare. However, I understand that the building contractor involved has now withdrawn his tender and I am awaiting a proposal from the board recommending alternative arrangements for the execution of the work.

I fully accept the need for this health centre development.

Funding for the project is included in the Department's capital programme for 1991.
