57 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education the instructions she has given, if any, to schools throughout the country to properly mark and commemorate the 75th anniversary of the 1916 Rising; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
At my initiative my Department are planning a programme of appropriate activities and events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, as well as commemorating the centenary of the death of Parnell and to celebrate the fact that Dublin is the European Cultural Capital in 1991.
It will be sending schools details as soon as the programme is finalised.
