Vol. 404 No. 9

Written Answers. - CoACT Colleges' Funding.

Michael Noonan

Question:

62 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if she has made any provision for proper accommodation at the CoACT Colleges in Limerick; if so, if she will outline the amount allocated and the breakdown to the constituent schools in CoACT; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A review is currently being undertaken by my Department in conjunction with the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee on the physical development needs of CoACT.

Preliminary findings are expected to be available in the near future. I shall at that stage take a decision on required follow-up action.
In the meantime, I made an allocation of £0.5 million to upgrade and extend the college's computer system. In addition I shall shortly announce details of an allocation from the EC-supported Structural Fund programme to meet the more urgent accommodation needs.
