Vol. 405 No. 1

Written Answers. - Air Navigation Services Fees.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

102 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the total fees paid to air traffic control in this country in respect of foreign military aircraft which passed through Irish airspace during 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Apart from certain categories, most aircraft flying through Irish airspace are charged for the provision of en route air navigation services. The costs involved are recouped on Ireland's behalf by Euro-control under the multilateral agreement relating to route charges. Under this agreement Ireland, like most other countries in the system, does not charge for flights by Irish or foreign military aircraft.
