Vol. 405 No. 2

Written Answers. - Anglo-Irish Reports.

Dick Spring

Question:

39 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will establish a mechanism to enable any and all reports emanating from the Anglo-Irish Inter-parliamentary Tier or its sub-committees to be considered and acted upon; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Deputy can be assured that reports emanating from the Anglo-Irish interparliamentary body are carefully read and taken account of by me. However, if the Deputy is of the view that a more formal mechanism should be developed for the consideration of such reports, I am prepared, in consultation with my British counterpart, to give careful consideration to any views or proposals which the interparliamentary body may wish to put forward.
