Vol. 405 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Michael Creed

Question:

95 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider making an additional national lottery grant allocation to a project (details supplied) in County Cork in view of their financial situation and the merits of the work involved.

The organisation in question have already sought and been issued with an application form for funding the 1991 scheme of grants to voluntary bodies administered by my Department. This scheme, which is funded from the national lottery, provides once-off grants to voluntary groups working in the social services area.

The organisation referred to by the Deputy received a grant of £10,000 under this scheme in 1990 towards the provision of equipment for its centre. The question of providing a further grant under the 1991 scheme cannot be considered until such time as a formal application is received from the organisation concerned.
