Vol. 405 No. 2

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Nora Owen

Question:

96 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the benefit which a person (details supplied) in County Dublin is receiving; when she went on to this particular payment; and the reason the computer system in his Department has not been brought up-to-date as it has caused great embarrassment to the person.

The person concerned has been in receipt of a retirement pension since 20 July 1989 — the date of her 65th birthday. Her current rate of payment is £58.00 per week.

The computer records in my Department have been kept up to date in the pensioner's case and I am not aware of any embarrassment which was caused to her.

If the Deputy wishes to clarify the situation by supplying additional information about any possible problems in relation to the social welfare entitlements of the person concerned, I would be pleased to have the matter investigated further.
