Vol. 405 No. 4

Written Answers. - Access Transport Study Report.

Ivan Yates

Question:

140 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will publish the report prepared by Stokes Kennedy Crowley in relation to the case for EC funding of ships and other transport related services in the context of Ireland's peripherality in the Single European Market; and, if so, when.

The Government decided last year not to publish the Access Transport Study prepared by KPMG/Stokes Kennedy Crowley, because it contains commercially sensitive information about the performance and plans of individual carriers serving Ireland.

However, the main recommendations of the consultants were outlined by me at CII Conference on Access Transport Policy and Investment Issues on 17 October last. I am arranging to forward for the Deputy's information a copy of my speech on that occasion.
