Vol. 405 No. 4

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Fleet Replacement Costs.

Ivan Yates

Question:

143 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the likely fleet replacement costs for Aer Lingus in the nineties assuming current level of activities, under (a) Ireland to United Kingdom services, (b) Ireland to continental services and (c) transatlantic services; if he will outline the type and numbers of planes required in each case; and the way in which fleet replacements costs, over the past three years, have been financed.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a parliamentary question on 13 February 1991 in which I gave details of Aer Lingus' fleet replacement programme. As the operations on the UK and continental routes are integrated, it would not be meaningful to attempt to provide separate figures for these two areas.
