Vol. 405 No. 5

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

35 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that farm development work is now held up pending the announcement of the extension of the disadvantaged areas; and if any work, commenced since January 1991, will attract the higher rate of grant in areas subsequently confirmed as being included.

I have no evidence of work being held up for the reasons given by the Deputy.

The higher rate of grant will apply to works approved from the date on which the new areas are officially designated as less favoured.
