Vol. 405 No. 5

Written Answers. - Family Income Supplement Scheme.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

43 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the progress which he has made in introducing a family income supplementary scheme for lower income farmers, as promised in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, in view of the collapse of farm incomes in 1990.

As the Deputy will be aware, provision was made in this year's budget to help to address problems of low income farming families. Discussions are taking place at official level between my Department and the Department of Social Welfare with a view to having the necessary arrangements finalised as soon as possible.
