Vol. 405 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sale of Departmental Lands.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

85 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline, in relation to lands owned by his Department in Beaumont, Dublin 9, when the land was put up for sale; when it was sold and the price obtained; and the date the sale was closed.

The sale of the land was advertised in the national press during September and October 1989. A tender was accepted on 20 December 1989. On acceptance of this tender a contract came into existence under which ownership of the lands passed to the successful tenderer subject to the payment by them of the balance of the purchase price.

The sale has not yet closed. The documents of assignment have been executed on my behalf and on behalf of the Minister for Finance. The Chief State Solicitors Office have informed the solicitors for the purchaser of this and have requested them to make an appointment to finalise the sale. As the tender procedure is confidential until the sale is completed the amount of the tender accepted cannot be disclosed at this stage.
